This is my first attempt to post a blog and only my title was posted. I wanted to say that Yesterday I Watched
John Gibson on Foxnews talk to a Senator Bye (SP) regarding an attempt to write a law providing extra pay for
Military reservists. He alleges that many reservists earn $100K or more and find themselves serving in armed forces with a pay-cut to perhaps $25K. His solution is to have Government make up the shortfall so his family can maintain their lifestyle. As a 25-year military veteran I would have an immediate question: SO JOHN DOE FROM DENVER ARRIVES IN IRAQ WEARING THE RANK OF E-5 ON HIS ARM, WORKS BESIDE 10 OTHER E-5 CAREER MILITARY PEOPLE.THE REGULARS EARN $25K (THEY ARE THE ONES CARRYING THE BIGGEST LOAD, TAKING MOST OF THE RISKS DURING A MILITARY CAREER) AND IF I UNDERSTAND THE SENATOR'S SOLUTION, HE INTENDS THAT THE 9 REGULARS EARN ONLY $25k WHILE JOHN DOE FROM DENVER GETS HIS PAY BOOSTED TO 100K FOR DOING THE SAME JOB (OR LESS) AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE? I don't think our regular troops will buy that!
